A misunderstood Reality

We live in a society where growing up can be tough. Tough in a way that it is always bounded by  certain out-dated philosophies and concepts. The traditional ways of thinking and attitudes of our very own family and relatives can always challenge our dreams, passions and the type of education we want to take or type of career we want to pursue. In this article below I would want people to know something that I have always wanted to say screaming from a hilltop,(with an echo effect) so that all my dear people around me could get it LOUD AND CLEAR.

It is not new to us if I say that The Doctors, The Engineers and currently the new added version of being called a successful person, The Chartered Accountants(another torture to the non-bookworms) are the kind of people that our society always gives the highest order of values and respects. They are the "Stars" of our society. After that comes The lawyers, The bankers,The professors; these thereby follow the first rank of successful people. Okay so, where are the others? The others? Who?

My indication is towards those people who rather chose to follow their own dreams and passions rather than becoming people's favorite by choosing a high-ranked career . They didn't worry about what people would think or they didn't fear of the torments they would receive for being "Nothing much" in life. Now I am not offending all the doctors or the engineers or the chartered accountants here, I don't mean to say that all of the people choose the above mentioned as their careers just to gain a high social stature. Yes many of you might genuinely have a passion or a drive towards them, but I am just trying to emphasize on the fact that our society follows a cliche. A cliche that still remains unchanged. A cliche that if you want to be happy and successful you must study hard and gain a secure career which is of course not a film-maker or an actor or a singer or a social worker. None of the above. They have the minimal ranks in society and are only pursued by people who are less intelligent and have not secured impressive percentages as a student.
How often people in our society admire the artists? Their fans do...and? Who else? How many parents want their children to study arts and not science and not management? How many parents would be so damn happy if their daughters would choose to become an actress and not a doctor? How many fathers would be proud if their sons would have a music career rather than engineering? How many distinction holders tend to become a philosopher or a writer? How many? The question is not How many? But in fact it is, Why not many?
Truly speaking we unfortunately live in a place where being rich and successful is the only way life is going to be a great deal. Yes, who doesn't want to be rich and successful? Everyone does but my lovely people Happiness matters. I know we live in a country where an artist doesn't have enough room to grow and earn tons of papers to fill in their bank accounts  or be a lucky owner of a big mansion or be a proud daddy/mommy to a  classy BMW..(No,it doesn't happen in our country :p) in short, acquire the best of luxurious lifestyle and et cetera et cetera...BUT WHEN YOU'RE NOT HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU'RE DOING WILL ALL THAT GIVE THE SAME DEGREE OF SATISFACTION TO YOU?
 Okay imagine this: You have a big house, lots of money, an expensive car, every luxury to pamper yourself...do you look happy? yes, you do..:)  BUT wait! now add this; Everyday you go to your workplace reluctantly, without excitement of doing something new without motivation or a jolly mood, With a regret to not have been able to be a sportsman you always wanted to be, with an envious feeling on seeing the famous sports person on T.V.......Picture all that...Now...Do you look happy?
Talking about the writer of this article, That is of course me ;) I always have been an artistic person...From the very beginning, I loved writing I loved singing, dancing, acting and stuffs like that and I knew that a 9-5 job was not something I want to do in life.Never. When I told this to my family members they said that these are the "EXTRA TALENT" I have and I should rather focus on my studies and try to have a strong career so that I could have a good future and a well-educated(the doctors-engineers types )and well-settled eligible guy as my husband. I know,  sounds dumb right? Yes it does..Why can't I have a career which excites me and which I love being in and a hard-working and a good man who loves me (no matter whatever his job his) to be my life partner instead?
There is a career beyond some career that is only for intellectual and brainy people. Today the horizons of careers have widened, there are lot more options today than there were yesterday but only few in our society have good knowledge about it; but rest of the others still follow the old-school delusional career based thoughts/concepts.
Why doesn't our country produce renowned designers? World-class photographers? Artists like Picasso, musicians like Beethoven, film-makers like Woody Allen,writers like Nicholas Sparks?  Obviously, the mothers of these people, may not have given them some dose of "Talent syrup" or fed them some special food everyday that for some reasons is not available in our country. I mean Why not? Do we lack in talent? No we don't, we lack in inspiration and motivation.
Parents in our country, often pressurize their children into building such careers which is mostly based on bookish knowledge and push to acquire a proper degree and their have been cases when, their children haven't been able to match up to their expectations and they end up being depressed and also reach to the levels of suicide cases. Many continue studying something they are not at all interested in and regret their decisions of not being able to follow their dreams later in life. Guys, Wake up it is the time to do that thing you have in your mind and heart all the time I am talking about your very own dreams; dreams that keep you awake at night, passions that you love being indulged into...something that you really want to achieve in life and not merely your parent's dreams/wishes for you. Yes Parents are an important and one of the biggest priorities in life but its your life and you are going to live it. You are the creator of your own life....your own destiny!!!

We have freedom to live our life then why don't we have a freedom to choose our own path. I think all the parents need to trust their children and encourage and motivate them in being something they want and not their personal decisions. Don't just push them onto stuffs, for the sake of getting a "respectable degree" and earning money. And meanwhile, all the children should have as much courage to go ahead and confess their passions and dreams to their parents. Don't say they won't understand maybe you haven't been able to convince them or maybe because they worry about you and your life or maybe they are not confident on what you're doing as they don't have much knowledge on that. Maybe you have not made much effort. Think people think....every situation has its two sides. Today, Yes today, sit with your parents, talk to them about your dreams, sort it out and go chase your dreams...what are you scared of? Your own birth-givers? Or you don't trust yourself?

So what if you don't earn much as a writer or a sports person or a music artist, You are happy doing things you love. So what if people don't praise you enough, you have no regrets of not following your passions. So what if others are not proud of you, you should be proud of yourself to have had a courageous heart have done what you loved doing at your own risk. So YOU have to decide, Would you want to earn lots of money doing something that you are never going to be interested in? Or,  Would you want to earn  decent enough by doing something you gain  maximum happiness from?
I have always believed that doing what you love is something what you do best! So do what you love it's your life, Live it in your own terms and conditions.
